8 Ways to Bring the Magic Back Into Your Relationship

toxic relationship

It’s a fact: Relationships are complex.

When you’ve been together for a while, it can be easy to take each other for granted.

You know what your partner likes and dislikes, what makes them tick, what their favorite food is… and that’s all great, but sometimes it can be hard to remember the things that really matter.

That’s where I come in! I’ve put together a list of 9 ways to bring the magic back into your relationship.

I hope this can help you fall in love with your partner again!

4 Signs Your Relationship Is Broken:

Your relationship may seem to be going along just fine, with you and your partner being too busy to even notice that you are spending less time together, but things can change in the blink of an eye.

Maybe one day, you’ll come home from work and suddenly realize that you haven’t really been talking to each other in days, or maybe one of you will find himself avoiding the other person because of all the little resentments that have built up over time.

Before you know it, your relationship has gone from a beautiful partnership to something much frailer.

1) You lack trust in each other:

Trust is the foundation of a healthy relationship. Without trust between you and your partner, nothing else matters. If you no longer trust each other, there’s very little chance for your relationship to survive.

2) You don't talk:

In a healthy relationship, you should be able to talk about anything.

But if your partner shuts down whenever you bring up an issue, that’s a red flag.

When your loved one isn’t willing to talk about what’s going on in their life, it can be difficult to feel like you’re a part of that world.

They might also not be open to hearing about your life or problems because they don’t want to get involved, which means they’re not being supportive of you or your needs.

If this is frequently happening and without any effort on your part to make things better, it could be a sign that there are more significant issues that need to be addressed.

A healthy relationship is one where you and your partner are both willing to give and take. You’ll talk about what’s going on with each other, and it won’t feel like one person always has to do all the listening or talking, unless that’s what they want.

3) You argue constantly:

Quarrels are typical in any relationship, so there’s no need to panic if you and your partner are regularly arguing.

However, if the arguments have become more frequent or intense than usual and there’s no resolution, this is a red flag that something is off in your relationship.

4) You rarely spend time together:

A relationship should be where you can feel safe and secure, but if you rarely spend time together, your relationship may be broken.

Relationships are more than surface-level stuff like being able to say “I love you” and having sex (although those things are important).

Relationships are also about deep emotional connection, which means spending time together.

If you’re not spending enough time together, there’s a communication breakdown, which can lead to more significant problems.

The Eight Ways to Bring the Magic Back Into Your Relationship:

Now that I have talked about some key signs that mean your relationship is broken or will be broken soon, it’s time to talk about the ways to bring the magic back into your relationship.

1- Remember Why You Fell For Each Other

long distance relationship

When you first started dating, it was all sunshine and rainbows. You thought your relationship was the best thing that ever happened to you. You were so happy, and it seemed like nothing could go wrong.

But then reality set in, and life got complicated. Now it seems like every day is a struggle just to get through life together as a partners.

But if we look back at how we felt about each other when we first started dating, we can probably spot some similarities between then and now, and maybe even find some things we’ve forgotten about or taken for granted!

So why did you fall for each other? What made your relationship work?

Is there anything from back then that could help you now?

I think the answer is yes!

There are many reasons why your relationship was so great, and I’m sure you can all think of a few.

Here are four key things that every couple should remember when they’re feeling down in the dumps:

  1. You were each other’s best friend.
  2. You helped each other through tough times and supported one another through good times.
  3. You listened to each other when nobody else would hear and made each other feel safe and cared for.
  4. You saw the best in each other even when nobody else did, and you didn’t let anyone tell you otherwise!

2- Communication Is Key To A Healthy Relationship

Relationships are built on the ability of two people to communicate with each other.

When you and your partner can communicate with each other, it allows for trust and understanding in a relationship.

Without Communication, there can be no trust or contract between two people, which means the relationship will not last long.

In order to have a successful relationship, both parties must be willing to communicate; this means that if someone feels something is wrong, they should be ready to talk about it with their partner.

This applies to both parties, but it is essential for the partner who feels something is wrong.

If you feel something is wrong, talk about it with your partner. It can be helpful to approach the conversation as a problem-solving exercise rather than an attack on your partner.

Again Communication is essential when it comes to sex, for example. Both parties should be honest about what they like and dislike and any past experiences or traumas that might affect their feelings about certain things. This can be difficult, especially if the person is trying to share their feelings for the first time.

It’s important not to judge or shame them for what they need.

People sharing their feelings should be met with compassion and understanding, not judgment or shame.

We are all unique individuals and have different needs. It’s necessary to respect those differences, even if they go against your own beliefs or understanding.

3- Use Your Voice And Words To Enhance Intimacy

It’s no secret that physical touch is essential to a relationship. But if you’re looking to take your connection to the next level, it’s time to pay attention to the words you use with your partner.

When we speak with care and compassion, our partners feel loved, cherished, and safe with us. The more we use heartfelt words when communicating with our partners, the more they will feel valued, which will help them open up to us and share their feelings more easily.

But what about those times when your partner is being difficult?

Or you’ve had a long day and just can’t muster any energy for social niceties?

It’s crucial to remember that finding the magic in your relationship isn’t just about saying “I love you” or giving thoughtful gifts; it’s about how you treat each other when things aren’t going so great.

It’s about showing your partner that you love them even when you’re upset or stressed out. It’s about ensuring that both of you feel cared for, no matter what’s happening in your lives.

When we remember to use heartfelt words, we show our partners that they are more than just someone who shares our bed; they are individuals with feelings and needs of their own.

4- Be Curious About Your Partner's Preferences And Needs

When you started dating your partner, you were intensely curious about them.

You wanted to know everything about them, their favorite color, their first pet’s name, the last song they listened to on their way to meet you for the first time. You asked questions and listened carefully to every answer. You made sure that every piece of information was stored away in your memory for future reference.

But as time goes on, Curiosity about your partner can become more like a chore than an exciting adventure. You may find yourself feeling less interested in knowing everything about your partner or even just asking questions about the little things that used to make you so curious.

This is natural; after all, we all change over time!

But if you want your relationship to stay fresh and exciting, Curiosity is a wonderful thing.

In fact, it’s one of the best things you can bring to any relationship.

So, what exactly makes Curiosity such an important quality?

Well, there are a couple of reasons. First, when you’re curious about someone, you’re likelier to listen and pay attention to what they say.

Second, when you’re curious about someone’s needs and wants, it shows them that you care about them, which can be very reassuring for someone feeling less than confident about themselves.

And last but not least: Curiosity helps people relax and feel comfortable around other people; when we’re curious about our partner, it implies that we’re interested in learning about them as individuals. This indicates that we’re not focusing on ourselves or what others may think of us.

5- Try To Be Innovative And Commit Yourself To The Relationship

To know how to fix relationship problems, you must try your best to be innovative and commit yourself to the relationship.

In the early days of a relationship, you tend to show your partner only the most desirable aspects of yourself. You were charming, generous, and fun-loving. You were willing to try new things and make each other feel good about yourselves.

But now that you’ve been together a while, it can be easy to get stuck in a rut of doing what’s familiar or comfortable, leaving both of you bored or disconnected.

You have to take the initiative to make things interesting again. Don’t be afraid of taking risks or doing something out of character. This can be as simple as surprising your partner with a new restaurant they’ve wanted to try or arranging tickets for that concert they’ve wanted to see but never made time for.

6- Practice Mindfulness Meditation Together Once Per Day For 10 Minutes

relationship goals

Mindfulness is a practice that focuses on being fully aware of the present moment and accepting it without judgment. It’s not a new concept; it’s been around for thousands of years, but it’s gaining popularity in the Western world because it has many health benefits.

One of the most important benefits of mindfulness is that it can help you and your partner communicate better.

When you’re focused on the present moment, you will no longer be distracted by your thoughts about what happened yesterday or what might happen tomorrow. You can look at each other with fresh eyes and hear what the other is saying; that kind of Communication is essential to any healthy relationship.

But it can be incredibly challenging if you’ve been together for a long time.

It’s easy to fall into routines that don’t always allow room for actual conversation, and when we don’t talk as much as we used to, our relationships can start feeling stale or even dull.

❝ To help avoid the damage that arguments can cause, we recommend practicing mindfulness meditation together for at least 10 minutes before discussing the matter.  ❞

After completing the meditation, you and your partner will be more willing to communicate. By cultivating a state of mindfulness, you’ll be able to have more meaningful conversations with your partner.

You’ll be more present “NOW, making it easier for you both to express yourselves authentically.

When we’re mindful, we can stay focused on what’s happening at the moment rather than letting our minds wander.

For example, suppose your partner says something that upsets you rather than reacting immediately (or worse yet, ignoring them).

In that case, you’ll be able to stop and think about what they said.

You’ll be able to put yourself in their shoes and understand how the other person feels and why they feel that way, making it easier for you both to resolve conflicts.

8- Make Time For Romance

Your relationship is your sanctuary. It’s a place where you can relax and be yourself without worrying about the pressures of the outside world.

You can forget all those things that stress you out and just focus on each other.

But what happens when romance dies? When You stop making time for one another, you stop giving your partner attention and affection. Then, instead of being your sanctuary, your relationship can become an area that causes stress and anxiety.

If you’re in a relationship with someone who makes you happy, don’t let time slip by without telling them how much they mean to you. Don’t let days go by without telling them what a fantastic person they are; don’t let weeks go by without showing them how much they mean to your life!

So don’t let love get away! Bring back those feelings of being young lovers again by making time for romance in your relationship.

Make a date to go out and have fun together, just the two of you; make sure you’re spending quality time together regularly, and remember to show your partner how much they mean to you.

Romance isn’t just about exchanging gift cards at Christmas or Valentine’s Day; it’s about showing your love and appreciation for each other every day of the year.

9- Build A Reservoir Of Happy Memories

reddit relationships

While you’re in a relationship, there will be times when you and your partner experience conflict. We often tend to focus on the negative experiences during those conflicts and use them as proof that our relationship is doomed, but this will lead both partners down dark roads without any benefit.

Instead of focusing on the negative aspects of your relationship, focus on what you appreciate about it; build a reservoir of happy memories to draw from when you’re struggling.

You’ll find that when you start looking back fondly at all the good times together rather than dwelling on the bad ones, it becomes easier to see things clearly and move forward positively.

❝ Remember that your relationship is a living thing, not something static and fixed in time. ❞

In the same way, plants need water and sunlight to grow; relationships require attention and care for them to thrive.

If you want your relationship to last forever, or at least as long as possible, then both partners must remember this fact.

Creating comforting traditions and nurturing your connection with each other can also be an excellent way to build up a reserve of intimacy and happiness.

For example, maybe you go out for ice cream or watch a movie together every Sunday. Or anything else that you enjoy doing together.

These traditions don’t have to be fancy; they can be super simple (like making pancakes together once a week).

But they should be things that bring you closer in your relationship and make each other feel good about themselves as individuals and as partners.

Conclusion:

The most influential thing you can do for your relationship is to be open to change. There are always things that could be improved, and it’s up to you to decide what those things are.

If something isn’t working, don’t be afraid to try something new.

All relationships have their ups and downs. Yours is no different!

It’s easy to get frustrated when things aren’t going how you want them to.

But the key is not giving up and staying mindful of how you and your partner can strengthen your relationship.I hope this article has helped you get your relationship back on track.
